This project was done for the London Fire Department in London, Ontario. The task was to make a certificate that could be given out to fire fighters that had been promoted or who had retired from the department. The idea was to make the certificate look like an antique with a lot of character and history, just like the fire department itself.
The Cape Coral Fire Department in Cape Coral, Florida loved the design so much that they asked for a similar certificate to be created for their own fire service.
I then used the same design in my own family project. My uncle David Barr retired from the LFD in the summer of 2015. I created a family version of the certificate by using his image and service dates, the image and service dates of my grandfather and great-grandfather, as well as the Fire Fighters Prayer and the Barr family crest.
